Introducing the 2014 Committee and Coaching Panel

The Riddell Umpires are pleased to announced the 2014 Coaching Panel and Committee Of Management. While most of the 2013 panel have returned to their positions, there are a few fresh faces.

The Riddell Umpires welcomes Kevin McIntyre to the position of Goal Umpires coach. Kevin has been umpiring for 13 years. He joined the Riddell Umpires in 2011 after umpiring and coaching in the Western Region Football League. He developed an interest in coaching after mentoring a 1st year international umpire with no football experience and helping him achieve an U/16 Grand Final. Outside of umpiring, Kevin enjoys spending time with has two children, 3 grandchildren and partner Kerri along with gardening and going fishing. He Looks forward to becoming a qualified coach in 2014 and assisting our goal umpiring panel.

The group also welcomes Ti-Arne Hickey and Harley Darmanin to coaching group. Ti-Arne has taken on board the position of Female Liaison Officer. Ti-Arne is a boundary umpire that started her umpiring career at Riddell in 2011 joining her dad Brett. Outside of umpiring, Ti-Arne enjoys going to the gym, socialising with friends and shopping. Ti-Arne is looking forward to supporting all females that walk through the door and targeting female recruitment.

Harley has taken on the position of 1st year development coach. He has taken the position as he wanted to add an extra degree of support to new junior umpires. He looks forward to getting the Green Shirt program off the ground and helping to mentor 1st year umpires so that they can reap the many rewards that umpiring offers. Harley joined the Riddell Umpires as a field umpire in 2010. Outside umpiring, Harley loves his sports and supporting the Blues. He also looks forward to his brothers Cody and Zac joining him for another year of umpiring.

The Riddell Umpires has also created a Media Manager position for 2014. The position is held by Chris Stead, a field umpire who joined the Riddell Umpires back in 2004. His goals for the year are to make the Riddell Umpires website the best umpiring website in the country. He also looks forward to using social media, newspaper articles and other methods to target recruitment and retention of umpires. Outside of umpiring, Chris enjoys playing basketball, and spending time with his wife, Pelin.
