Young Female Star Joins The Senior Ranks

One of Riddell Umpires youngest and brightest female stars joins the senior ranks this weekend when she will run the boundary for the senior match between Melton Centrals vs Riddell.

Jordan Athorn joined the Riddell Umpires in 2014 and while her 1st match may have scared some off, Jordan returned bigger and better the following week. A small mix up meant Jordan went from learning umpire with mentor Britt Giles to running Clarke Oval in a 2 umpire system, a scary thought for most umpires. In her second game she learnt from the best, 2013 Boundary Umpire Of The Year, Andrew O'Keefe. Jordan's commitment to training and her quick learning in her 15 game career has led her to being the 3rd female boundary umpire to run the boundary in a senior match in 2014 joining Ti-Arne Hickey and Britt Giles.

The Riddell Umpires wishes to congratulate Jordan on this magnificent achievement and we hope that she has a great match this weekend.

Riddell Umpires Foundation Member Reaches 1000 Games

The Riddell Umpires is proud to announce that this weekend John Weston will umpire his 1000th game.

John joined the Riddell Umpires in 1983 as a foundation member. His 32 year career has now seen him become only the fourth person to reach four figures in total games joining Ollie Matthews and the Semmen's brothers.

John is one of Riddell Umpires greatest personalities and always has a great umpiring story to tell. John's career is highlighted by the many young umpires that he has mentored and provided invaluable support to.

The Riddell Umpires wishes to congratulate John on a marvellous career to date and we hope that he has a few more enjoyable games this weekend.
