Green Shirt Mentor Training This Wednesday

For a number of years the AFL has had the “green shirt program”.  First year (junior) field umpires wear a green shirt uniform to indicate to those at a game or participating in a game that the new umpire is learning the skills of being a field umpire.

In 2014, the Riddell Umpires will take part in the program.

Part of the program is that the AFL provides training for mentors….experienced umpires that can go along to a game and provide some support to the new umpire. Being qualified means that Junior Coach Billy Mitchell may be able to call on you a couple of times to “drop in” and have a look at a young new umpire.

Important information

        - The training course is this Wednesday at our clubrooms at Mackie Park;

        -6pm till 7.30

        -doesn’t cost anything

        -session will be delivered by Brian Goodman – Managing Director of VAFA umpiring

        -there is no “test” or “examination”, it is just the delivery of information to enhance your skills in providing support to a new umpire

        -you may require a pen and some note paper…..just for your own benefit.

As this is the only training course for 2014, it would be great if as many possible mentors could undertake the training. If you require more information, please contact Glen Shilling This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
